When the historic Old Town Hall building came up for sale, Nicole knew that this was the place where her next chapter was meant to grow. Nestled in the heart of Mineral Point, the building had long been a gathering space, and Nicole envisioned breathing new life into it with a flower and tea shop that would bring people together once again.
The name The Violet Fig carries the heart of that vision. “Violet,” Wisconsin’s state flower, also symbolizes loyalty—a quality that reflects Nicole’s deep devotion to this community. “Fig,” a symbol of abundance and success, honors her belief in cultivating beauty and good fortune through meaningful work.
Together, these two words form more than just a name. They represent a promise to nurture a place where creativity blooms, connections flourish, and Mineral Point continues to thrive.
Nicole has a profound love for design, beauty, and the small joys that make everyday life feel special. Inspired by a desire to bring a sense of delight and simple elegance to her community, she founded The Violet Fig in Mineral Point—a space where neighbors and visitors alike can discover carefully curated floral designs, teas, and thoughtful gifts that celebrate life’s little pleasures. With a passion for creating moments of joy, Nicole has built The Violet Fig into more than a shop—it’s a place where creativity, warmth, and attention to detail come together to inspire and uplift everyone who enters.
Raised on the wide prairies of South Dakota, surrounded by pastures, horses, and family, Ember developed a floral design style deeply rooted in the organic beauty of the natural world. Her childhood was spent watering horses and tending nursery plants in her family’s landscaping business, cultivating an early appreciation for the rhythms of nature. When Ember was twelve, her mother purchased a quaint floral shop in their small town, opening the door to floral design that Ember has embraced ever since.
Over the past 20 years, Ember has worked alongside inspiring designers in a range of unique, family-owned floral businesses—from small-town South Dakota to the vibrant city of Omaha. Each place, and each mentor, broadened her perspective and enriched her approach, exposing her to diverse techniques, philosophies, and styles.
Her long career has taught her to remain curious, to approach each design with creativity, and to always think beyond traditional boundaries. The flowers she works with have taught her to accept the beauty of each moment as nature is merely gently swayed by her efforts, not controlled by them.
